Biography:

Alexander Clarot was a very renowned Austrian painter and miniaturist of the 1st half of the 19th century. Born in Vienna in 1796, he attended the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts and became a member of the Academy in 1829. He was known for his portraits and genre scenes, and his works are characterized by their detailed execution and their romantic sensibility. Clarot died in Prague in 1842.
