Biography:
Alexander Mordvintsev is a researcher, artist, and the creative mind behind the renowned DeepDream project. He is currently part of Google Research. Mordvintsev is passionate about emergent phenomena, machine learning, computer graphics, and vision. He loves visualizing things and is best known for inventing Google DeepDream. His work has sparked a fundamental shift in how we visualize what neural networks 'see,' helping us understand how AI interprets images based on what it's seen in the past. Mordvintsev is also known for his work on Lenia, a family of cellular automata that is a continuous generalization of Conway's Game of Life, with continuous states, space, and time. Lenia has won several awards, including the 2018 Virtual Creatures Contest at the Genetic and Evolutionary Computation Conference in Kyoto, an honorable mention for the ALIFE Art Award at ALIFE 2018 in Tokyo, and Outstanding Publication of 2019 by the International Society for Artificial Life (ISAL).
