Alfred Copestick was an American artist known for his marine and landscape paintings. He was born in New York and died at a young age of 22 in 1859. Despite his short career, he was hailed as a genius in New York and Philadelphia. His painting 'New York from the Harbor Showing the Battery and Castle Garden' is one of his well-known works.
