Biography:
Alfred Opisso Cardona was a Spanish painter and draughtsman, born in Barcelona in 1907 and died in Mataró in 1980. He was the son of Ricard Opisso, a dibuixant and caricaturist, and the nephew of Joan Cardona, a painter. He began his training in Paris with his father and later studied at the San Fernando Academy of Fine Arts in Madrid. He specialized in figurative painting and pencil portraits, and his work is characterized by the expressiveness of the stain and the stroke, capturing reality through a sensibility that is linked to the tradition of Goya, Lucas and Alenza. He exhibited in Madrid and his work is displayed in the Museum of Modern Art in Barcelona, as well as museums in Figueres and Valls.
