Alma Magdalena Hirsig Bliss was born in Bern, Switzerland on June 24, 1875. Alma Hirsig studied painting under G. Courtois and R. Prinet in Paris. She was known for her miniature paintings and her work is included in the collections of the Smithsonian American Art Museum and the Brooklyn Museum.
