Biography:
Anil Chitrakar is a social entrepreneur from Nepal. He was recognized as one of the 100 'Global Leaders for Tomorrow' at the World Economic Forum in Davos in 1993. He is the founder of the Environmental Camps for Conservation Awareness (ECCA) and the co-founder of the Himalayan Climate Initiative. Chitrakar is also the former Chairperson of the Himalayan Climate Initiative and helped launch the 1550 km long Great Himalayan Trail in Nepal. He is part of the Kailash Sacred Landscape and has been involved in various environmental and conservation efforts in Nepal. Chitrakar is also a recipient of several awards, including the Ashoka Fellow, Global Leaders for Tomorrow awardee at the World Economic Forum in Davos (1993), Rolex award, Global Development Marketplace Award for the Solar Tuki at the World Bank (2005), and Tech Museum Award in Silicon Valley for his work. He is also a faculty member at the School for International Training.
