Biography:
Mexican sculptor and visual artist Beatriz Canfield was born in Mexico City in 1972. She graduated from the Escuela Nacional de Pintura, Escultura y Grabado La Esmeralda in Mexico City. Her work spans a wide range of mediums, including sculpture, video installation, photography, and performance art. In recent years, she has also explored pyrotechnics and ephemeral sculptural concepts, where the object itself disappears, leaving behind fragments and extensive photographic records. Canfield has created monumental public sculptures in Mexico and Switzerland, where she lived from 2009 to 2016. She has exhibited her work individually and collectively in countries such as Spain, France, and England. Canfield has worked on various curatorial projects, multidisciplinary projects, and cultural management projects. She has also taught workshops and participated in roundtable discussions on visual arts. As a juror, she has participated in various visual arts competitions in Mexico and abroad. Canfield was a member of the Sistema Nacional de Creadores de Arte del FONCA from 2018 to 2020 and has received several awards throughout her career.
