Benedicto Reyes Cabrera, better known as 'BenCab', is a Filipino painter who was conferred a National Artist of the Philippines for Visual Arts (Painting) in 2006. He has been noted as 'arguably the best-selling painter of his generation of Filipino artists.' BenCab was born in Manila, Philippines on April 10, 1942. He is known for his works in charcoal, among other mediums. His art often reflects the social and political climate of the Philippines, as well as the country's rich cultural heritage. In 2009, BenCab established the BenCab Museum in Tuba, Benguet, Philippines to house his personal art collection and to promote the Cordilleran indigenous art.
