Bernd Reinhold Gerhard Heynemann, known as Bernd Heynemann, was born on January 22, 1954 in Magdebourg, Germany. He is a former German football referee and now a German politician. Heynemann was a referee in the DDR-Oberliga from 1980 to 1991 and in the Bundesliga from 1991 to 2001. He also refereed in international matches from 1988 to 1999. Heynemann was a referee at the 1996 European Football Championship and the 1998 World Cup. He was named Referee of the Year in Germany in 1998. Heynemann is currently a politician in Germany, a member of the CDU party. He was a member of the Bundestag from 2002 to 2009. Heynemann is also a member of the German Football Association (DFB) and the German Olympic Sports Confederation (DOSB).
