Biography:

Carl Frederik Liisberg was a Danish sculptor and porcelain (underglaze) painter in the Royal Danish Porcelain factories. He was born in Aarhus, Denmark on May 15, 1860 and died in Frederiksberg, Denmark on April 19, 1909. Liisberg was inspired by Japonisme and participated in the Art Nouveau movement. He is known for his porcelain paintings and sculptures. Some of his notable works include 'See-Ufer mit Enten' and 'Polar Bear'. The Musée d'Orsay in Paris and the Museum of Fine Arts in Lyon have Liisberg's works in their collections.
