Biography:

Carla Cubit is an American artist born in 1967 in Kansas City, Missouri. She is known for her mixed media assemblage pieces, often using recycled objects like aluminum cans. Cubit spent her days walking and sometimes living on the streets of New York City before finding her creative calling through arts groups she encountered in shelters. She sees art as a way to distract herself and allow her mind to wander. In 2017, she organized a Black Lives Matter art show with the goal of waking people up to the issues of racial injustice.
