Carlo Mollino was an Italian architect, designer, photographer and educator. He was born in Turin, Italy in 1905 and died in 1973. Mollino was known for his versatility and idiosyncratic style, which combined diverse influences and passions. He is today acknowledged as one of the most strikingly original creators of mid-century Italian architecture, design and photography. Mollino's architectural and design works are celebrated for their ability to allow occupants to manipulate volumes to their liking. He was also a skilled photographer and a passionate pilot. Mollino's most famous works include the Casa Miller, the Casa Devalle, the Ippica equestrian complex, and the Cavour desk.
