Biography:
Clara Pechansky is a Brazilian artist born in Porto Alegre, Brazil in 1937. She graduated in Painting from the Federal University of Pelotas in 1956 and later obtained a degree in Drawing and History of Art from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul in 1972. Pechansky studied under several notable artists, including Aldo Locatelli, Glenio Bianchetti, Glauco Rodrigues, Danúbio Gonçalves, and Anico Herskovits. She has worked in various mediums, including Drawing, Engraving, Lithography, and Painting. Pechansky is known for her depictions of children and mothers, musicians, and historical scenes and characters. She has exhibited in over 60 solo shows in Brazil and abroad, including Germany, Belgium, Colombia, the Netherlands, Spain, the United States, Mexico, and Portugal. Pechansky has also received numerous international awards and honors for her work. She founded the Clara Pechansky Atelier in 2001, where she teaches classes and mentors new artists. She also created the International Miniarte Exchange, an international event for artists to present visual arts, which has taken place in various cities in Australia, Canada, Northern Ireland, England, Argentina, Mexico, and the Netherlands. Pechansky is married to Isaac Pechansky, a psychoanalyst.
