Biography:

Claudia Comte is a Swiss artist born in Morges, Switzerland in 1983. She works in a variety of media including sculpture, engraving, installation murals and painting. Comte earned a B.A. in visual arts from École cantonale d'art de Lausanne (ÉCAL), and an M.A. in science of education from Haute Ecole Pédagogique, Visual Arts, Lausanne, Switzerland. Her artwork is known for its wide range of influences, including canonized artists like Brancusi and Jean Arp, as well as popular cartoons like The Simpsons. Comte values the physical labor required to create her artwork, often using a chainsaw as her tool of choice. Her work has been included in numerous solo and group exhibitions, and is held in the collections of the Museum of Modern Art, New York and the Baltimore Museum of Art.
