Biography:

Claudio Olivieri was born in Rome, Italy in 1934. He died in Milan, Italy in 2019. He was an Italian painter and sculptor, considered one of the major exponents of Analytical Painting. Olivieri's work focused on the exploration of light and its relationship with the viewer. He sought to give form to the invisible, using light as a means to make visible the infinite. Olivieri's paintings are characterized by their use of monochromatic colors and simple geometric shapes, which create a sense of depth and space. He was also a professor of Visual Arts and Painting at Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti (NABA) in Milan from 1933 to 2011. Olivieri's work has been exhibited in numerous institutions, including the Centre Pompidou in Paris, the Museum of Modern Art in New York, and the Venice Biennale. His work is also part of several prestigious collections, such as the one of the Tate Modern in London and the one of the Guggenheim Museum in New York.
