Biography:
Damian Grady is a photographer and Aerial Reconnaissance Manager at Historic England. He joined the Royal Commission on the Historical Monuments of England in 1990 to map archaeological sites from the air. Grady has been instrumental in discovering and recording archaeological sites in England using light aircraft. He has also contributed to the discovery of whole archaeological landscapes instead of single sites at a time. Grady's work has been featured in various publications, including the BBC, New Scientist, and Historic England's research on Archaeology From a Distance and 50 Years of Flying for Heritage. He has also worked on the Aerial Photography Explorer, which combines maps with more than 400,000 images taken since 1919. Grady's photographs have also been exhibited in galleries, including the Arts and Culture Google platform.
