Daniel Melim is a Brazilian urban artist and activist, born in São Bernardo do Campo, Brazil in 1982. He has been developing urban interventions using the stencil since 2000, rescuing this medium which is historically the origin of street art in Brazil. Melim's work focuses on the intersection of his art with the socio-political and cultural context of his upbringing in São Paulo. His most iconic mural is 'Mural da Luz' in São Paulo, which was chosen as the most iconic mural of the city. Melim's art is known for its dirty and thick textures, and seemingly poorly finished appearance, which carries an aesthetic research. He has been featured in several exhibitions, including 'Daniel Melim: Rouge' in 2018. Melim's art has been recognized with several awards, including the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2023 Kids' Choice Awards.
