Biography:
Denis Adeane Mitchell was an English abstract sculptor who worked mainly in bronze and wood. He was born in Middlesex, Greater London in 1912 and moved to Cornwall in 1930. During the Second World War, he worked underground at the Geevor tin mine. He was a prominent member of the St Ives group of artists and worked as an assistant to Barbara Hepworth for many years. He passed away in 1993.
