Biography:

Didier William is a mixed-media painter originally from Port-au-Prince, Haiti. His work incorporates traditions in oil painting, acrylic, collage and printmaking to comment on intersections of identity and culture. William was born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, and his heritage rumbles through his large bold paintings where he unravels both autobiographical memories and broader questions of belonging and identity. He earned a BFA from the Maryland Institute College of Art in 2007 and an MFA from Yale University in 2009. He has exhibited in numerous solo and group exhibitions, including at the Museum of Contemporary Art, North Miami, and the Petrucci Family Foundation Collection. William is also a professor and associate dean at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts.
