Biography:
Colette Pope Heldner, also known as Dorothy Colette Pope, was an American painter born in Waupaca, Wisconsin in 1902. She married her instructor, Knute Heldner, and the two moved to New Orleans in 1923, where they became part of the 'French Quarter School' of artists. Heldner was known for her impressionist style, painting scenes of the city's picturesque courtyards and favorite haunts of local artists and musicians. She passed away in New Orleans in 1990.
