Biography:

Edmund ('Ned') Stansfeld Rawson settled in the Mackay district in the 1860s, where he and his brothers held 'The Hollow', a cattle station, and later established a number of business interests. In 1882-1883 he served as a Mayor of Mackay. Before coming to Australia, Rawson had attended Cambridge University, and whilst living here, he maintained his literary interests. He was also an artist who created artworks such as 'South Sea Islanders who probably worked on a sugar plantation near The Hollow' in 1878.
