Sissi, also known as Elisabeth Amalie Eugenie in Bavaria, was born in Munich, Germany in 1837 and died in 1898. She was Empress of Austria and Queen of Hungary, married to Emperor Franz Joseph I. She was known for her independent and modern personality, and was the subject of a trilogy of films and a children's animated series. She was also a pastel artist.
