Ermias Joseph Asghedom, known professionally as Nipsey Hussle, was an American rapper, entrepreneur, and activist. He was born on August 15, 1985, in Los Angeles, California, and died on March 31, 2019, in Los Angeles, California. Hussle emerged from the West Coast hip hop scene in the mid-2000s and was known for his mixtapes, including his Bullets Ain't Got No Name series, The Marathon, The Marathon Continues, and Crenshaw. His debut studio album, Victory Lap, was released in 2018 to critical acclaim and commercial success. Hussle was also an entrepreneur and owned several businesses in Los Angeles, including a clothing store, a fish market, and a co-working space. He was also an activist and worked to improve the community in South Los Angeles, where he grew up. Hussle was posthumously awarded two Grammy Awards for the songs 'Racks in the Middle' and 'Higher' in 2020.
