Biography:
Fabio Mauri is one of the most prominent voices of the Italian avant garde of the post war period. He was born in Rome in 1926 and died in 2009. He lived between Bologna and Milan until 1957, when he moved to Rome. In 1942, he started the magazine Il Setaccio with Pier Paolo Pasolini and Giovanni Zalcone. In 1954, he began his career as a plastic artist and exhibited for the first time in Rome in 1955. His first monochrome, Schermi (1957), ranks him among the artists of the Italian avant-garde. In 1962, he began publishing plays, including Il benessere with Franco Brusati. He is represented by Hauser & Wirth and his work has been published by Marani Editore.
