Biography:

Fery Antal was a Hungarian graphic artist born in Szerencs, Hungary in 1908. He studied at the Országos Magyar Királyi Iparművészeti Iskola from 1927 to 1935 with the help of a scholarship from the local sugar factory. He was a student of Nándor Lajos Varga. Fery Antal was a master of Hungarian woodcut art and had many individual ex libris exhibitions in various cities including Budapest, Prague, and Moscow. He was also the chairman of the KBK from 1978 until his death in 1994. Fery Antal's work is displayed in the Fery Antal room in the renovated 16th-century Rákóczi vár in Szerencs. During his lifetime, he created over 2000 bookplates and occasional graphics. Fery Antal died in Budapest in 1994.
