Biography:
Francesca Grilli is an Italian artist born in Bologna in 1978. She is best known for her performances, film and installation pieces. Grilli studied at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Bologna and the Istituto Superiore per le Industrie Artistiche in Urbino. She also attended the Rijksakademie van Beeldende Kunsten in Amsterdam. Grilli's early works focus on videos documenting her performances inspired by her interaction with members of her family. Since 2006, her focus has shifted to performance and sound installations. Her works often stress on the ageing body in relation to time and their ability to challenge their physical limits. Grilli currently lives and works between Bologna and Brussels.
