Biography:
Frederick Stone Batcheller was born in 1837 in Providence, Rhode Island. He trained as a marble cutter during his youth and produced marble busts while employed with the Tingley Brothers stone yards of his native Providence. Although his family was disappointed by his choice of a career in art over music, Frederick Batcheller left an indelible legacy on the art world. He is known for still-life and landscape painting, as well as portrait busts.
