Biography:
Geoff Charles was a Welsh photojournalist born on January 28, 1909, in Brymbo, Wales. He studied for a Diploma in Journalism at the University of London and graduated with first-class honors in 1928. Charles worked as a reporter for various newspapers, including the Western Mail, Mountain Ash and Aberdare Express, Surrey Advertiser, and Wrexham Star. His work covered significant events such as the Gresford Colliery Disaster in 1934. He was inducted into the Gorsedd of the Bards at the National Eisteddfod in Lampeter in 1985, taking the bardic name 'Sieffre o Brymbo'. Charles' collection of over 120,000 images is being conserved and digitized by the National Library of Wales.
