Biography:
George Andries Roth was a landscape painter and contemporary of B.C. Koekkoek. He was a student of P.G. Westenberg (1791-1873). In the years 1835-36, he traveled to Germany and Switzerland, where he made many sketches and studies. He was a member of the Royal Academy of Arts in Amsterdam. He was known for his detailed and realistic landscapes, often depicting forests and rivers. His works are highly regarded and can be found in many museums and private collections.
