George Augustus Baker Jr., also known as George Augustus Baker, Jr., was an American painter born in New York City in 1821. He was the son of a miniaturist and began his artistic education by following his father's example. Baker Jr. became a successful portraitist in New York, where he spent most of his life. He was known for his ideal works such as 'Love at First Sight,' 'Wild Flowers,' 'Children of the Wood,' 'Faith,' and 'The May Queen.' Baker Jr. died in 1880.
