Biography:

Georgina Quintana is a Mexican artist born in Mexico City in 1956. She is part of the generation that dominated the Mexican pictorial scene during the last two decades of the twentieth century. Quintana studied Spanish literature at the University of Mexico from 1974 to 1976, and printmaking with Mario Reyes in 1974. She also took classes in drawing with Héctor Xavier, and studied at the Escuela Nacional de Pintura, Escultura y Grabado 'La Esmeralda' from 1977 to 1980. She has exhibited her work in various venues in Mexico, including in Campeche, Morelia, and Aguascalientes, and she received the Antonio Robles Prize in 1985. Quintana's work often features a personal iconography that combines elements such as ancient measuring tools, female sculptures from the colonial period, and interpretations of nature. She is the mother of Jasper Michael Brown Quintana, born in 2013, with her former partner Ramiro Quintana.
