Biography:
Gerry Wedd is a South Australian artist born in 1957 in McLaren Vale. He is known for his ceramics and his long-term graphic contribution to the Mambo brand. Wedd explores how pottery can be a receptacle for the dense cross currents of past and present. He has a first degree in visual arts and obtained a Masters in Fine Art from the University of South Australia in 2005. He has been making pots for forty years and enjoys a national reputation in Australia for his handbuilt blue and white ceramics that brim with a dry wit oscillating from the humorous to darkly disturbing. Wedd's introduction to ceramics was earlier than most, and he is considered one of Australia’s most celebrated ceramicists. He is also a six-time state champion of South Australia in surfing.
