Biography:
Gerd Hartung was a German Modegrafiker and Hochschullehrer. He was born in Berlin in 1913 and died in Berlin in 2003. He was known for his work as a Modegrafiker and Hochschullehrer. He was educated at the Reimann-Schule and began his career in 1934. He worked for various publications including Die Dame, Die Mode von Morgen, die neue linie, Beyers Modeführer, Beyers Mode für alle, Vereinigte Textil Zeitung, and International Textiles. He was known for his linear style in the Art déco and his freer Zeichenstil. He also worked as a Redakteur and Mitarbeiter for various Zeitschriften including Sie, Die Mode, Chic, textil-zeitung, Textil-Wirtschaft, Film und Frau, Constanze, and Brigitte. He was also involved in the Gestaltung of Kollektionskatalogen for top-textile-magazin and Trevira International. He was a teacher from 1983 until his death in 2003.
