Biography:

Bertozzi & Casoni is a contemporary art duo that creates stunning sculptures with ceramic and other materials. Their works explore themes such as nature, death, consumerism and identity. The duo was founded in 1980 in Imola by Giampaolo Bertozzi (born in Borgo Tossignano, Bologna, in 1957) and Stefano Dal Monte Casoni (born in Lugo di Romagna, Ravenna, in 1961). They both formed in the field of Faentine ceramics and have since given full dignity to this medium, bringing it to the main international circuits of contemporary art. They are known for their incessant experimentation, both technically and formally, and have developed a unique and recognizable perspective on contemporary society. Their works are often ironic and critical of consumerism, and they often use hyperrealism and the representation of decay to reflect on the disintegration of our society.
