Biography:

Giancarlo Sciannella was born in Castelli, Italy in 1943. He was a sculptor who worked primarily in terracotta and is considered one of the leading expressions of contemporary Italian sculpture. He died in Rome in 2016. Sciannella's work is influenced by mythology, particularly Greek and Roman mythology, and is part of the cultural history of Italy. He is known for his installation presented at the exhibition 'Rome exposes Italian ceramics' and for his retrospective at the Mercati di Traiano in Rome.
