Biography:
Giorgio Belloni was an Italian painter, born in Codogno (Lodi), Italy in 1861 and died in Azzano di Mezzegra (Como) in 1944. He was a pupil of Giuseppe Bertini at the Brera Academy and made his debut in 1879. He established himself as a landscape painter in Milan and came under the influence of Lombard Naturalism. He specialized in seascapes and produced large-scale views of the Alpine area and Brianza. He also turned his hand to portraits and still lifes, and his work was influenced by Divisionism at the turn of the century. Belloni participated in major exhibitions at the national and international level, and a personal room was allocated to him at the Venice Biennale in 1914 and a show at the Galleria Pesaro in 1919.
