Biography:
Gong Suran was a Chinese painter active during the Jin dynasty (1115–1234). Little is known about his life, but he is best known for his painting 'Ming-fei leaves the fort,' which illustrates a legendary story of Wang Zhaojun, one of the 'four great beauties of ancient China' and a concubine of the Western Han Emperor. Gong Suran's work is characterized by its delicate brushwork and attention to detail.
