Biography:

Gustav Adolf Erbmann, also known as Gustav Adolf Erdmann, was born in Breslau, Germany in 1815. He was a painter, printmaker, and illustrator. He took over his father's lithographic printing shop in Berlin in 1830 and began illustrating in 1834. He produced a major series of book illustrations in the late 1830s. He died in Rostock-Gehlsdorf, Germany in 1924.
