Halbot K. Browne, also known as Phiz, was a British artist born in London in 1815 and died in 1882. He was a caricaturist and illustrator, best known for his work in Charles Dickens' novels. Browne was educated at King's College School and University College, London, where he studied law. However, he decided to pursue a career in art instead. In 1837, he began working as a caricaturist for the magazine 'Fraser's Magazine'. He later collaborated with Charles Dickens on several of his novels, including 'The Pickwick Papers', 'David Copperfield', and 'Bleak House'. Browne's illustrations were known for their humor, satire, and attention to detail. He was a prolific artist and produced a large body of work throughout his career. Browne's work had a significant impact on the development of illustration in the 19th century, and he is considered one of the greatest illustrators of all time.
