Biography:

Henryk Karaś is a Polish artist and former Solidarity activist. He was born in Krakow, Poland in 1948. Karaś studied at the Wrocław University of Technology and later earned an MBA from the University of Warsaw. He worked as a worker at the Cuprum KGHM mine in Lubin and became involved in the Solidarity movement. In 1980, he joined the NSZZ "Solidarność" trade union and was a member of its local committee. Karaś organized a strike at his workplace in December 1981, which led to his arrest and later conviction for his role in the strike. He spent time in prison but continued to be involved in the Solidarity movement after his release. In addition to his activism, Karaś is also an artist who creates sculptures.
