Biography:

Houghton Cranford Smith was an American artist known for his landscape paintings. He was born on February 12, 1887, in Arlington, New Jersey. Smith studied at the Frobel Academy and the Art Students League of New York. He began his artistic career in the early 1900s and became a prominent figure in the American art scene. His work is included in the permanent collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Provincetown Art Association and Museum, and Masterworks Museum of Bermuda. Smith died in 1983.
