Biography:

Howard Shaw McCutcheon (October 11, 1921 – July 6, 2016) was an American editorial cartoonist. He was born in Chicago, Illinois, to Evelyn (Shaw) and John Tinney McCutcheon. His father, John T. McCutcheon, was a Pulitzer Prize-winning editorial cartoonist. Shaw McCutcheon graduated from Harvard University with a degree in mathematics in 1943. After serving in the United States military during World War II, he returned to his study of art at the Chicago Academy of Fine Arts. He spent thirty-six years (1950–1986) as an editorial cartoonist for the Spokesman-Review in Spokane, Washington.
