Icilio Federico Ioni, also known as Icilio Federico Joni, was born in Siena, Italy in 1866 and passed away in 1946. He was a painter and forger, specializing in creating forged antique paintings, particularly in the style of the Sienese school. He was active in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Ioni discovered his talent for working with wood, plaster, and paint at a young age while working in a gilding shop in Siena. His forgeries were so skillful that they were often mistaken for genuine antique works. In addition to his forgeries, Ioni also produced original artworks and was known for his 15th-century style.
