Biography:
Idoia Asensio is a Spanish visual artist and illustrator, born in Bilbao in 1966. She holds a degree in Fine Arts from the University of the Basque Country and has been developing different projects as an artist since 2016. She is known for her work on the 'Women in STEM Visibility Art Project'. Asensio has also been working as an art teacher for two decades and has been a member of the Basque National Party. She has been involved in politics in the Basque Country, serving as a member of the Basque Parliament from 2001 to 2011 and as a member of the General Assembly of Gipuzkoa from 2011 to 2019. She has also been the president of the Gipuzkoa Provincial Council since 2023, becoming the first woman to hold the position. Asensio has also been a commentator in radio and TV shows of EITB and a member of the General Assembly of Kutxa. She has been contributing in the press and has been a member of the youth organization Euzko Gaztedi.
