Biography:

Iyo Kacaw is an Amis artist from the Makota'ay community in the Fengbin Township, Hualien County, Taiwan. He is a representative artist of the contemporary arts on the east coast of Taiwan, with a prolific and vigorous career spanning almost twenty years. Iyo has rarely ever left his village, but his work has made a significant impact on the art scene in Taiwan and beyond. Iyo's art is deeply rooted in his cultural heritage and the natural environment of his homeland. He uses various mediums, including wood, iron, and mixed media, to create sculptures, installations, and land art that respond to the man-made damages to the natural environment. His work often reflects his concerns about the maritime environment and the impact of human activity on it. Iyo's art has been exhibited in various museums, galleries, and art festivals in Taiwan and internationally. He has participated in the Taoyuan Land Art Festival, the Taiwan International Austronesian Art Exhibition, and the Pulima Art Festival, among others. His work has also been collected by the Art Bank Taiwan and the National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts. Iyo's biography is still being written, as he continues to create and inspire new generations of artists in Taiwan and beyond.
