Biography:
Jan van Mieris was born in Leiden on 17 June 1660 as the eldest son of the widely famed Frans van Mieris the Elder and Cunera van der Cocq. He was a Dutch painter, known for his portraits and genre scenes. He was also a poet and translated the play Aminta, written by Torquato Tasso. He died in Rome on 17 March 1690.
