Biography:

Jane Kang Lawrence is a Korean-American artist based in New York City. She was born in Seoul, South Korea in 1980 and moved to the United States as a child. Lawrence received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Mason Gross School of the Arts, Rutgers University, and her Master of Fine Arts degree from the School of Visual Arts. Following arts residencies in Italy, she continued to develop her unique style of painting, drawing, printmaking, and monotype. Lawrence's work has been exhibited in galleries and museums throughout the United States and internationally. She is also the Co-Founding Director of Peep Space Gallery in Tarrytown, NY. Lawrence's art often explores themes of identity, culture, and the human experience. Her work has been recognized with numerous awards and honors, including a grant from the Pollock-Krasner Foundation. Lawrence is also an active educator and has taught at various institutions, including the School of Visual Arts and the National University of Singapore.
