Biography:
Javier Ortas was born in Madrid in 1962. He is a Spanish artist who has been climbing mountains for over 30 years. He has climbed some of the highest peaks in the world, including K2, Broad Peak, and Baruntse. In 1995, he was part of the Spanish team that attempted to climb K2, but was forced to turn back due to bad weather. In 2019, he created a visual image of the 86 Fall Room, which is a tribute to the climbers who died during the 1995 K2 disaster. He is also known for his work as a mountain guide and for his contributions to the sport of mountaineering.
