Biography:
Jean Dewasne was a French painter, sculptor and lithographer, generally considered as one of the masters of abstract constructive art. He was born in Lille, France on May 21, 1921 and died in Paris on July 24, 1999. He studied music and painting in his youth, and later architecture. He became familiar with the major classical movements and was influenced by them in his own work. He was a member of the Art Concret group and was one of the pioneers of geometric abstraction in France. He had numerous exhibitions throughout his career and his work is held in many museums and private collections around the world.
