Biography:
Jean Dupuy was a French artist, an experimenter in art and technology, and a bold affiliate of Fluxus. He was born in Mougins, France, in 1925, and died in Nice, France, in 2021. He began his career in Paris, training as an architect at the École des Beaux-arts, but soon turned to art. In the 1950s, he was part of the Abstraction lyrique movement, but in the 1960s, he moved to New York and became involved in the avant-garde and neo-dada scene. He was a pioneer of work combining art and technology, and worked in the fields of conceptual art, performance art, painting, installations, sculptures, and video art. In the 1970s, he curated many performance art events involving different artists from Fluxus, the New York's avant-garde and neo-dada scene. Many of his works are part of important collections, such as Centre Pompidou in Paris and the MAMAC of Nice.
